Bashir Qonqar

Bashir Qonqar is a Palestinian self-taught artist whose practice explores society, human behavior, and the ways people interact with one another. He studied social sciences in Germany, where he lived for seven years, before returning to Bethlehem in 2007.

Qonqar's work is shaped by a close observation of social life. He explores collective taboos, contradictions, and everyday behaviors, often using criticism and sarcasm to question accepted ideas and social norms. His practice moves across painting, drawing, digital art, and installation.

Alongside his artistic practice, Qonqar has worked in social and cultural fields and taught oil painting and design at Dar Al-Kalima University's Faculty of Visual Arts. His work has been exhibited internationally, including in Palestine, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Sweden, South Africa, the United States, and the UAE. He currently lives and works in Bad Goisern, Austria.
