Biography
Yuriy Khudov is a contemporary artist. Trained in furniture design and artistic woodcarving, he spent 13 years in the film industry as an art director, concept artist, and 3D modeler before shifting his focus toward figurative painting and drawing. His background also includes visual merchandising and work on the creation and restoration of wooden crosses on the Solovetsky Islands.
Yuriy's practice marks a deliberate move away from digital precision toward ambiguity, physical texture, and expressive gesture. Working across oil painting, drawing, and mixed media, he explores psychological states that exist between clarity and dissolution. Female figures often emerge from darkness or appear suspended between dream, memory, and physical presence. Rather than using color and light to describe reality, Yuriy employs them to create emotional tension and stillness. Unfinished forms, visible brushwork, and disrupted surfaces allow the image to remain open, shifting between recognition and abstraction.
