Description
Warm and radiant, this figurative artwork captures a glowing female presence through color and gesture. Made with gouache and oil pastels on paper, the composition shows a woman in profile wrapped in deep blue drapery, while golden light moves across her face, shoulders, and chest. The matte body of gouache creates a strong foundation, and the oil pastel strokes add texture, vibrancy, and a sense of inner luminosity.
The artwork is driven by contrast: warm ochres and peach tones meet cool blues, violets, and greens, creating a living balance between calm and intensity. Its expressive handling gives the figure emotional depth without losing spontaneity. This work is well suited to collectors of contemporary figurative artwork and to interiors that benefit from a bold, light-filled focal point. It fits beautifully in a living room, bedroom, office, or studio, bringing warmth, movement, and a strong artistic character.
Materials / Medium: Paper, gouache, oil pastels
Presentation / Display / Shipping: The artwork is shipped rolled in a protective tube and will require stretching or framing after delivery.
Presentation
Yuriy Khudov is a contemporary artist. Trained in furniture design and artistic woodcarving, he spent 13 years in the film industry as an art director, concept artist, and 3D modeler before shifting his focus toward figurative painting and drawing. His background also includes visual merchandising and work on the creation and restoration of wooden crosses on the Solovetsky Islands.
Yuriy's practice marks a deliberate move away from digital precision toward ambiguity, physical texture, and expressive gesture. Working across oil painting, drawing, and mixed media, he explores psychological states that exist between clarity and dissolution. Female figures often emerge from darkness or appear suspended between dream, memory, and physical presence. Rather than using color and light to describe reality, Yuriy employs them to create emotional tension and stillness. Unfinished forms, visible brushwork, and disrupted surfaces allow the image to remain open, shifting between recognition and abstraction.
