Description
Electric color gives this female portrait an intense, introspective presence. Created with gouache and oil pastels on paper, the artwork combines deep blue, turquoise, green, crimson, violet, and muted earth tones in a layered composition where light and shadow reshape the human figure. Dense matte areas sit beside energetic pastel strokes, producing both visual depth and a strong sense of movement.
Rather than following naturalistic color, the work uses bold contrasts to express mood and psychological tension. The surrounding marks appear almost atmospheric, allowing the figure to emerge from a field of color while remaining connected to it. This artwork is particularly suited to collectors of contemporary portraiture, expressive figuration, and mixed-media works on paper. It can bring a powerful focal point to a living room, study, office, bedroom, or creative interior.

Presentation
Yuriy Khudov is a contemporary artist. Trained in furniture design and artistic woodcarving, he spent 13 years in the film industry as an art director, concept artist, and 3D modeler before shifting his focus toward figurative painting and drawing. His background also includes visual merchandising and work on the creation and restoration of wooden crosses on the Solovetsky Islands.
Yuriy's practice marks a deliberate move away from digital precision toward ambiguity, physical texture, and expressive gesture. Working across oil painting, drawing, and mixed media, he explores psychological states that exist between clarity and dissolution. Female figures often emerge from darkness or appear suspended between dream, memory, and physical presence. Rather than using color and light to describe reality, Yuriy employs them to create emotional tension and stillness. Unfinished forms, visible brushwork, and disrupted surfaces allow the image to remain open, shifting between recognition and abstraction.
