Description
This intriguing work depicts a surreal world filled with elongated, stylized human and animal figures. Dominated by black and white tones, it fuses symbolic elements with geometric shapes. Hybrid creatures, half-man, half-beast, mingle in a bucolic landscape where stars dot the sky. The figures' expressive and omnipresent eyes evoke a quest for universal connection. The dense and complex composition is punctuated by recurring silhouettes, creating a captivating visual harmony. The fluid lines and sharp contours give the work a particular dynamism, while the interactions between the figures suggest themes of community and symbiosis. This creation explores the interdependence between humans and nature, captivating with its originality and symbolic depth.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
