Description
In this captivating work, the artist uses bold black lines to depict a nude human figure, reclining in an abstract landscape. The undulating forms of the body blend seamlessly with the textured ground, evoking a symbiosis with the surrounding nature. In the background, a series of vertical spikes suggests a collection of plants or a symbolic barrier, while a stylized sun illuminates the scene with its imposing presence. The expressive facial features add an emotional dimension, prompting reflection on the integration of man with the elements. The striking contrast between the black ink and the beige background accentuates the work's primal, dreamlike character, revealing the artist's unique vision that defies traditional visual conventions. This creation invites the viewer to explore notions of identity and connection with nature in an introspective manner.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
