Description
This bold work fuses graphic art and text to create an intriguing visual experience. Produced on cardboard, it features a stylized female figure decorated with vibrant color patterns, including blues, greens, and pinks. The bust is adorned with varied typography, inscribing powerful and suggestive words such as "marvelous" and "divine." These inscriptions contrast with the raw texture of the cardboard, creating a tension between the textual refinement and the materiality of the support. The geometric and organic patterns surrounding the figure accentuate the dynamic energy of the work. The unconventional use of cardboard and acrylic paint demonstrates a commitment to artistic innovation while raising questions about the perception of the female body and modern society. This work captures attention with its provocative and aesthetic appeal.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
