Description
In this series of small drawings, created with an ink pen, I have sketched bodies in their simplest form. The precision of the clean lines tends toward an abstraction of the subject while retaining a delicacy where desire remains present. Incomplete, rendered anonymous by the composition, the subjects are still identified by the drawing's title. The format invites the viewer to approach and examine the drawing closely, creating a sense of intimacy.
Supplied with a 20x15 black frame and a 5x5cm opening passe-partout.
Presentation
Initially an actor and videographer for the theatre, Samuel, now sam·e, develops a queer practice of sculpture and painting that deconstructs heroic virility and politically questions the body and its representations.
Her work questions the body as a political and plastic space: how norms shape our emotions and identities.
By weakening and queering the codes of the heroic body, they compose desired and desiring presences that invite new forms of resistance.
