Description
I explore the body as a political space where identities are expressed. With “La demande”, two silhouettes embrace as if surrendering to each other.
To highlight the fragility of a body under tension, the material is raw. Each angle, each fracture, translates a questioning of the classic canons of virility.
The sculpture deconstructs the image of the hero to make way for a vulnerable and sensitive presence.
This piece is a working model of my new project of monumental sculptures “the metamorphes”. More info on my website: https://samuelperche.com

Presentation
Initially an actor and videographer for the theatre, Samuel, now sam·e, develops a queer practice of sculpture and painting that deconstructs heroic virility and politically questions the body and its representations.
Her work questions the body as a political and plastic space: how norms shape our emotions and identities.
By weakening and queering the codes of the heroic body, they compose desired and desiring presences that invite new forms of resistance.
