Description
This artwork, created with colored pencils in PaintON, illustrates the resilience of nature with subtlety and depth. A meticulously detailed elder tree trunk serves as a backdrop to vibrant green leaves that emerge vigorously from the crevices. The rough texture of the bark contrasts beautifully with the softness and freshness of the leaves. On the right, the phrase "To establish ourselves wherever we please, as long as the refuge is welcoming" suggests a philosophy of freedom and adaptability, reinforcing the visual message. The attention to detail, such as the nuances of green and delicate shadows, testifies to a masterful technique and a keen eye for the natural world. This composition invites reflection on life's ability to flourish anywhere, provided the environment is favorable and welcoming. A masterpiece that combines poetry and meticulous observation.
Presentation
My name is Pauline Rolandeau, and I go by the simple artist name: Pôline. If you emphasise the last syllable, it sounds like the French word for 'connection'. That is exactly what I aim to create: a connection between the plant world that fascinates me and human beings.
Thanks to my work as a botanist, I have been able to observe plants in great detail, through powerful magnifying glasses. I then noticed some fabulous details.
Today, I let my keen eye wander through nature and each time my whole being is filled with wonder at the shapes, colours and complexity of the plant world. Through my drawings, I share a glimpse into the world of plants that surrounds us. I magnify what is sometimes only a millimetre in size, emphasising certain details. I do this using coloured pencils, my preferred medium for capturing the delicacy and softness I observe. Through my words, I blend the language of plants with that of humans. I forge a connection, conveying a message to bring living beings closer together—women, men and plants—each with their own unique way of moving.
