Description
This captivating artwork, created with colored pencils on Bristol paper, presents a refined illustration of a flower with purple and pink petals, elegantly displaying its delicate hues against a pure white background. The fine, precise lines demonstrate artistic skill and attention to detail. Just below, a poetic text in gold lettering evokes the generous gesture of offering flowers to the wind and the hope of inspiring joy in the heart of a stranger. The perfect harmony between the illustration and the words lends the work a dimension that is both visual and literary, highlighting the interconnectedness of visual art and poetry. This piece is distinguished by its ability to marry aesthetic elegance with emotional depth, inviting the viewer to reflect on the transmission of beauty and happiness through simple gestures.
Presentation
My name is Pauline Rolandeau, and I go by the simple artist name: Pôline. If you emphasise the last syllable, it sounds like the French word for 'connection'. That is exactly what I aim to create: a connection between the plant world that fascinates me and human beings.
Thanks to my work as a botanist, I have been able to observe plants in great detail, through powerful magnifying glasses. I then noticed some fabulous details.
Today, I let my keen eye wander through nature and each time my whole being is filled with wonder at the shapes, colours and complexity of the plant world. Through my drawings, I share a glimpse into the world of plants that surrounds us. I magnify what is sometimes only a millimetre in size, emphasising certain details. I do this using coloured pencils, my preferred medium for capturing the delicacy and softness I observe. Through my words, I blend the language of plants with that of humans. I forge a connection, conveying a message to bring living beings closer together—women, men and plants—each with their own unique way of moving.
