Description
This artwork, created with colored pencils in PaintON, presents a series of exquisitely illustrated flowers. Each flower is unique, with shades of blue, purple, and white, lending a soothing visual harmony. The message "Express all aspects of yourself!" inscribed in the upper left corner invites introspective reflection, emphasizing the importance of authenticity. The beige background highlights the intricate details of the flowers, making their diversity and elegance all the more striking. The artist skillfully plays with textures and shapes, offering a perspective that is both minimalist and richly expressive. The contrast between the apparent simplicity of the flowers and the depth of the message creates a captivating visual tension. This composition is an homage to the beauty of nature and individual diversity, encouraging the viewer to appreciate each unique detail.
Presentation
My name is Pauline Rolandeau, and I go by the simple artist name: Pôline. If you emphasise the last syllable, it sounds like the French word for 'connection'. That is exactly what I aim to create: a connection between the plant world that fascinates me and human beings.
Thanks to my work as a botanist, I have been able to observe plants in great detail, through powerful magnifying glasses. I then noticed some fabulous details.
Today, I let my keen eye wander through nature and each time my whole being is filled with wonder at the shapes, colours and complexity of the plant world. Through my drawings, I share a glimpse into the world of plants that surrounds us. I magnify what is sometimes only a millimetre in size, emphasising certain details. I do this using coloured pencils, my preferred medium for capturing the delicacy and softness I observe. Through my words, I blend the language of plants with that of humans. I forge a connection, conveying a message to bring living beings closer together—women, men and plants—each with their own unique way of moving.
