Description
This artwork, created with colored pencils using PaintON, presents a detailed drawing of a lush branch, adorned with large green leaves, vibrant beneath a clear blue sky. The delicate hues of the leaves capture the light, accentuating their natural texture. To the left, a poetic quote draws the eye: “Stand proudly in the sun; be a light unto others." These words, imbued with wisdom, resonate with the vitality of the nature depicted. The artwork establishes a harmonious connection between the visual beauty of nature and an inspiring philosophy of life. The combination of the meticulous drawing and the thoughtful words encourages deep contemplation of nature and human potential. The contrasts between the vividness of the leaves and the softness of the sky enhance the overall visual impact. This art celebrates resilience and inspiration, making each viewer a participant in the reflection.
Presentation
My name is Pauline Rolandeau, and I go by the simple artist name: Pôline. If you emphasise the last syllable, it sounds like the French word for 'connection'. That is exactly what I aim to create: a connection between the plant world that fascinates me and human beings.
Thanks to my work as a botanist, I have been able to observe plants in great detail, through powerful magnifying glasses. I then noticed some fabulous details.
Today, I let my keen eye wander through nature and each time my whole being is filled with wonder at the shapes, colours and complexity of the plant world. Through my drawings, I share a glimpse into the world of plants that surrounds us. I magnify what is sometimes only a millimetre in size, emphasising certain details. I do this using coloured pencils, my preferred medium for capturing the delicacy and softness I observe. Through my words, I blend the language of plants with that of humans. I forge a connection, conveying a message to bring living beings closer together—women, men and plants—each with their own unique way of moving.
