Description
This striking artwork showcases a figure cloaked in a textured, dotted pattern, giving the impression of anonymity and mystery. At the forefront, the figure is enveloped in a halo of vibrant, multi-colored dots, creating a sense of reverence amidst the surrounding chaos. it is a like a tapestry of shadowy forms , crafted with a dense constellation of multicolored dots that evoke movement and turmoil. The contrast between the central figure and the dark, dynamic backdrop highlights themes of isolation and resilience. The intricate use of pointillism not only adds depth but also conveys the energy and tension that permeate the piece. This compelling juxtaposition draws the viewer into a narrative of struggle and inner strength, making it an evocative and thought-provoking work.
Presentation
LeikunNahusenay (born 1982) is a professional studio artist based in Addis Ababa.
While primarily identifying himself as a self-taught artist, he nonetheless completed his art degrees from the Ale School of Fine Arts (2006) and TeferiMekonnen School (2011). He is a member of the Netsa Art Village and contributes to the growing Ethiopian art scene. His multidisciplinary practice is based at the NasGedame studio.
Leikun uses different media in his work, including photography, painting, collage and sculpture.Texture is an important feature throughout his art. In his photography, the use of double exposure, collage, and scratch-and-peel methods allows Nahusenay to create irreproducible, dreamlike worlds in which the spiritual ostensibly strains against, and spills into, the physical.
His work has been shown at numerous exhibitions, including: 'Threads of life in Fragments of time ' art Basel Miami Beach , (2025/26);
Blachère Foundation, France (2019); Salon Zurcher Art Fair, New York (2017); EDSA – Ethio-Danish Space Agency, Asni Gallery, Addis Ababa (2016); and Addis Calling Group Show, Addis Fine Art (2016).
Recent solo exhibitions include: 1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair, London (2019); End of Residence – an exhibiton of Leikun'swork made in France, Dos Mares, Marseille, France (2018); Process and Progression, Addis Fine Art, Addis Ababa (2016); Flying Spoons sculptural exhibition at Asni Gallery, Addis Ababa (2015).
Also, He took part in the fourth annual
Photographer's Portfolio meeting at the Bamako 'Encounters Biennale' - Mali - ,and 'Picha recounter' - Congo – Lumumbash (2010).
Nahusenay is passionate about his yearly teaching art for children with special needs.
