Description
A radical black line takes over the paper. The marker traces instinctive lines. Here, raw art expresses itself without filter. The composition mixes human figures and natural elements in a dreamlike arrangement.
A female silhouette dominates the plane. Her body houses a second figure, suggesting a duality or an inner birth. Beside her, a nude settles at the edge of a stylized waterway. The landscape is populated by palm trees and a dark animal, while a radiant sun watches over the scene.
The absence of color reinforces the graphic dimension. The contrast between the white of the support and the depth of the black creates a jerky visual rhythm. The drawing becomes a mental engraving, a fragment of the unconscious laid bare. Each motif, each hatch mark, testifies to a spontaneous and authentic approach.
Presentation
Self-taught and instinctive, MAÏ has been exploring the realms of human expression for fifteen years. Portraits, bodies, faces: over the years, MAÏ has sought less to represent than to capture raw emotion.
After a silent pause, confinement acts as a catalyst. Drawing emerges, immediate, unfiltered. Pens, markers, and ordinary paper become her instruments. Color is intuitive and impulsive.
Her gesture becomes more radical: black and white dominates, the line becomes an inner engraving. Abandoning all formal research, she allows autonomous works to emerge, where the unconscious expresses itself freely.
For her, art is not about technique, but about authenticity. Each creation is a journey, a fragment of an inner truth that the viewer is invited to extend.
