Description
This etching in drypoint plays with contrasts. The aquatint creates a dark, almost nocturnal background, where scattered flashes of silver light appear. These spots evoke fine rain or a starry sky.
In the center, a copper wire is embedded in the material. The metal draws a cursive and fluid calligraphy. A small heart and a stylized flower accompany the message.
The line is light, almost airy. It brings an organic warmth against the rigor of the monochrome background. This composition combines the technical precision of the engraver with poetic spontaneity.
The balance between the deep black and the metallic reflection guides the eye toward the central expression. The sobriety of the style emphasizes the tenderness of the subject matter.
The work, created in 2024, is part of a research into movement and material.
Presentation
'I tirelessly pursue movement: my drawings, executed from life, seek to capture the sensation to the point of abstraction, whilst my photographs, taken against dyed backgrounds, blend different materials to reveal the beauty of Nature.'
Trained in photography and video at the École des Beaux-Arts, my approach to movement is closely aligned with that of Marcel Duchamp. My drawings extend into engraving, lithography, photography, painting, sculpture and video within a poetic universe. My work explores the connections between humankind and nature, as well as ecological and social issues, with a particular focus on water.
