Description
A bright mermaid figure appears within a loose garden of flowers, surrounded by watercolor blooms in yellow, violet, pink, green, and blue. Her long coral-pink hair flows into the warm body of the composition, while the deep green tail introduces a strong contrasting curve.
The artist's idea is simple and central to the work: inner beauty is like a flower garden. By caring for yourself, you begin to bloom, and that growth can affect everything around you. The surrounding flowers turn this thought into a visual metaphor, connecting the central figure with ideas of self-care, renewal, and personal flourishing.
The figure has no facial features, which keeps her symbolic rather than individual. Soft watercolor washes create transparency and movement, while fine black ink lines give definition to the body, flowers, and leaves without making the image rigid.
The result is playful, gentle, and optimistic. For collectors who enjoy whimsical figurative art, botanical imagery, and works with a positive emotional message, Flower Mermaid offers both decorative color and a clear underlying idea. It would work particularly well in a bedroom, creative space, reading corner, or as a thoughtful gift.
Materials: Watercolor and ink on paper.
Shipping / Display: The artwork is shipped rolled in a protective tube and will require framing after delivery.
Colors & Shades
Coral pink, raspberry pink, rose pink, blush pink, salmon, peach, warm orange, golden yellow, lemon yellow, emerald green, forest green, mint green, turquoise, pale blue, violet, lavender, plum purple, charcoal black, soft gray, white.
This artwork is suited to collectors who enjoy whimsical figurative art, botanical imagery, mermaid themes, expressive watercolor, and optimistic symbolism. It may especially appeal to viewers interested in self-care, inner growth, feminine imagery, imagination, and artworks with a gentle emotional message.
Presentation
Elena Orlova is a contemporary artist. She graduated from the Art and Graphic Design Department of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University in 2014. Her solo exhibitions include Healing Through Femininity: A Path to the Self at Art Workshop Krasny and Femininity at the Yunost Art Residence in Novosibirsk. She has also participated in the Siberian Biennale of Design and Contemporary Art and group exhibitions in Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and Ivanovo.
Elena works with watercolor monotype, drawing, and gold, exploring the movement from psychological and informational overload toward clarity and stillness. The unpredictability of monotype becomes a field for the subconscious, while precise graphic elements introduce order into its accidental forms. Her compositions move between dense, labyrinth-like structures and open, quiet spaces. Through this contrast, Elena Orlova examines anxiety, femininity, inner transformation, and the human need to find personal meaning within chaos.
