Viburnum, 2026

Galya Symchych

The painting depicts branches of a guelder rose (kalyna) with bright red berries and lush green leaves, rendered in watercolor on paper. The composition takes an arched or wreath-like form, with the botanical elements framing the central part of the piece while leaving the background clear and light. The painting radiates freshness, coolness, and natural harmony. The contrast between the vibrant red berries and deep green tones makes the work lively and dynamic, while the softness of the watercolor adds a lyrical and delicate quality.
In an interior, it can be placed either horizontally or vertically. Since this work is executed in watercolor on paper, it requires protection and elegant framing. Proper presentation will not only highlight the beauty of the painting but also safeguard the paper against moisture and dust. The ideal solution for this piece involves a combination of a frame, a protective cover (glass or plastic), and a mat (passe-partout). The mat visually separates the painting from the frame, creates a sense of depth, and allows the watercolor to "breathe."
