"House of Wishes" by Andriy Klishyn is a contemplative exploration of solitude, longing, and the pursuit of dreams. The painting presents a small white house with a red roof, standing alone in a vast field of green and yellow, with a distant mountain range shrouded in mist. The vibrant foreground contrasts with the moody, shadowed background, emphasizing the house as a symbol of hope and aspiration amid the unknown.The house appears both inviting and isolated, evoking a sense of quiet introspection. It serves as a metaphor for the human condition—our desires, our dreams, and the safe havens we build in our minds to shelter them. The blurred horizon and textured brushstrokes create a dreamlike quality, reinforcing the idea that wishes exist somewhere between reality and imagination.Through "House of Wishes", Klishyn invites viewers to reflect on their own aspirations and the places—real or imagined—that offer them solace and inspiration. The painting captures the beauty of longing and the quiet power of hope.
Presentation
Born on February 27, 1958 in the city of Kirovabad, Republic of Azerbaijan. Almost immediately after birth he moved to Eastern Kazakhstan, to the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. Lived there for 15 years, graduated from school and grew up. In 1975 he moved to Crimea, and in 1978 he settled in eastern Ukraine, in the city of Gorlovka. He graduated from the Technical and Economic Institute and worked as an engineer, teacher, and then in the field of insurance, finance and banking. Since May 2014, a forced migrant has been living in Kyiv.
The artist about himself:
“As a professional artist, I started my career late, at 61 years old. But it is possible that this was what should have happened. Everything has its time. Rich life experiences have become the source of my creativity. My art is ambiguous and unlike any other, probably because “I paint with my heart." Sometimes I use an intuitive drawing, namely: not from life or from a photograph, but only what suits the subconscious, soul, heart.
Most importantly and completely unexpectedly for me, after a series of works I began to understand where my images come from... I think that I or my essence saw them in our past or future life.
Despite my little experience, I already have more than two hundred paintings, about forty of them have found “their home" in private collections and museums."
The paintings are in the Lutsk Art Museum, in the Korsakov Family Museum of Contemporary Art.
