Description
This work captivates with its charming depiction of a morning coffee scene. A traditional, impeccably detailed coffee grinder occupies the foreground, illustrating a nostalgic connection to the artisanal past. Beside it, a blue cup filled with black coffee, placed on a matching saucer, invites you to sip. The contrast between the vibrant blue and the woody warmth of the grinder immediately catches the eye. White sugar cubes lie haphazardly, adding a touch of realism and casualness to the composition. In the background, white tiles juxtaposed with vertical yellow stripes lend a modern, graphic dimension. This juxtaposition of tradition and modernity makes the work unique, reflecting visual harmony and captivating narrative depth.
Presentation
I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I live and work in Charente-Maritime. I sculpt imaginary characters in stone using the direct carving technique which was transmitted to me in the René Coutelle workshop in Paris. It changed my way of sculpting, my relationship with the material as well as the act of creating. It is at the origin of a new inspiration allowing me to move away from conventional figuration. This allows me to become one with the stone and in this controlled letting go, to animate its apparent inertia, shine after shine, so that its echo responds to my different inner echoes.
I try to translate a vision of reality which takes into account the natural specificities of the block of stone. In this “reorganization of the mineral", I try to account through a dynamic back and forth, this relationship between outside and inside and this in a relationship of proximity or shift, of rupture.
