Description

This work features a humanoid figure with a neutral face, dressed in a blue tunic of varying shades, projecting an atmosphere of timeless calm. Beside him, an imposing cat with a bright orange coat stands majestically, capturing the viewer's attention with its enigmatic gaze and piercing emerald green eyes. In the background, a stylized tree with rounded branches is silhouetted against a deep burgundy sky, adding a dimension of mystery to the scene. The juxtaposition of cool and warm hues creates an intriguing visual balance, while the linear and simplified style of the forms gives the whole an almost dreamlike appearance. The bold use of color and line suggests a silent dialogue between the figure and the cat, inviting the viewer to question the connection between these two intriguing figures.

Presentation

I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. I live and work in Charente-Maritime. I sculpt imaginary characters in stone using the direct carving technique which was transmitted to me in the René Coutelle workshop in Paris. It changed my way of sculpting, my relationship with the material as well as the act of creating. It is at the origin of a new inspiration allowing me to move away from conventional figuration. This allows me to become one with the stone and in this controlled letting go, to animate its apparent inertia, shine after shine, so that its echo responds to my different inner echoes.

I try to translate a vision of reality which takes into account the natural specificities of the block of stone. In this “reorganization of the mineral", I try to account through a dynamic back and forth, this relationship between outside and inside and this in a relationship of proximity or shift, of rupture.
