Description
The fishing is an original China ink and watercolor drawing on paper, realized in 1938 by the Surrealist artist Eugène Berman. Monogrammed and dated "E. B." in China ink on the lower margin at the center. A superb original drawing with a fresh and sure line, a typical line of a rapid sketch, representing a genre scene of fishing, to admire for the freshness of the sign! The original sheet is glued to a white cardboard paper, including a cream cardboard passepartout, 35 x 49.8 cm.
Eugène Berman (Saint Petersburg, 1899 – Rome, 1972) was a Russian painter and theater and opera scenographer. His work earned the name of "Neo-Romantic" for the melancholy and the introspective features. Berman might have taken inspiration from Pablo Picasso's artworks, especially from the Blue Period paintings. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
