Description

This abstract painting is a powerful expression of city abstraction, crafted with deep emotional resonance. The artist has skillfully employed textured techniques using combs, adding layers of complexity and depth to the artwork. These textures not only enhance the visual appeal but also evoke a tactile sensation, inviting viewers to explore the painting both visually and physically.

Being an awarded piece, this painting has been prominently featured in numerous prestigious national and international art shows. Its recognition underscores its artistic merit and the profound impact it has had on audiences worldwide.

Abstract art, as exemplified by this painting, diverges from traditional representation by eschewing a direct depiction of visual reality. Instead, it employs shapes, colors, forms, and gestural marks to convey its message and evoke emotions. In its essence, abstract art aims to separate or withdraw from literal interpretations, allowing viewers to engage with the artwork on a more subjective and personal level.

The term "abstract" can encompass a range of approaches—from simplifying and schematizing recognizable forms to utilizing purely non-representational elements such as geometric shapes or expressive gestures. Artists who practice 'pure' abstraction often explore concepts such as order, purity, simplicity, and spirituality through their work.

Throughout modern art history, abstract art has emerged as a central and influential stream. It is celebrated not only for its aesthetic innovations but also for its capacity to convey deeper meanings and provoke contemplation. This painting exemplifies the dynamic evolution of abstract art, resonating with viewers through its expressive textures, vibrant colors, and the evocative energy of its cityscape abstraction.

In summary, this awarded abstract painting stands as a testament to the artist's creative vision and technical prowess, while also reflecting the broader evolution and significance of abstract art within the contemporary artistic landscape. Its presence in prestigious exhibitions underscores its universal appeal and enduring relevance in the realm of modern art.

Anand Manchiraju, City abstraction-1
India  • 1947

Presentation

Anand Manchiraju is an Indian artist whose multidisciplinary practice blends painting, photography, and experimental techniques. Influenced by his artist father, he began painting in childhood and later studied at JNTU. His work explores themes including nature, spirituality, daily life, and the human figure. Anand employs oils and acrylics on canvas, as well as unconventional materials such as bromide paper and x-ray film, using photographic chemicals to develop what he terms “photo-paintings.” His style spans impressionistic and abstract modes. Over his career, he has produced thousands of artworks and held numerous solo exhibitions across India. He also served as President of the Andhra Academy of Arts for over 30 years, promoting artistic engagement in the region. Anand’s practice continues to evolve through constant experimentation with mediums and materials, reflecting his commitment to innovation and exploration across traditional and contemporary formats.
