Description
"A Small Blue Painting" is an acrylic painting on canvas with painted sides. It is composed of invented hard-edge shapes in bright blue, sap green and yellow and emanates a kind of glow. The surface is rich, the tone both playful and somewhat moody. In all of my work, I am interested in the formalities of picture making as well as a narrative that lies beneath the surface. This painting is varnished, wired and ready to hang.
Presentation
Artist Statement:
I am a mixed media artist with a degree in art from UCLA. My work often incorporates invented shapes, which morph into somewhat surreal landscapes. I am interested in the formal aspects of picture making as well as the narratives that lie beneath the surface.
My work was featured in Kolaj Magazine Issue #14 as well as the books, Collage, Assemblage and Altered Art; Masters: Collage, Major Works by Leading Artists; Geo Graphic, A Book for Map Lovers; the America Journal of Nursing magazine and the recently released How Art Heals.

Numerous exhibitions including solo shows at the Slutzky Gallery (Irvine, CA) and Pierce Collage Art Gallery, Project Room (Los Angeles).

1994 to 2010: substitute elementary teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District.
2012: Curated: "Abstract: expressing ideas and emotions through color and line" at the American Jewish University, Los Angeles.
Guest speaker for Collage Artists of America (twice) and So Cal Jewish Artists Initiative.
