Description
"Tangled" is an acrylic painting that began with a doodle drawn on paper. The shapes of the doodle were an inspiration for this painting. In all of my work, I am interested in the formalities of picture making as well as a narrative that can take place beneath the surface. The surface is pristine with attention to detail. This painting is 14" x 14" and 1/2" deep with painted sides and is varnished and wired for hanging.
Presentation
Artist Statement:
I am a mixed media artist with a degree in art from UCLA. My work often incorporates invented shapes, which morph into somewhat surreal landscapes. I am interested in the formal aspects of picture making as well as the narratives that lie beneath the surface.
My work was featured in Kolaj Magazine Issue #14 as well as the books, Collage, Assemblage and Altered Art; Masters: Collage, Major Works by Leading Artists; Geo Graphic, A Book for Map Lovers; the America Journal of Nursing magazine and the recently released How Art Heals.

I have won numerous awards including 6 first place awards in juried shows.

Numerous exhibitions including solo shows at the Slutzky Gallery (Irvine, CA) and Pierce Collage Art Gallery, Project Room (Los Angeles).

1994 to 2010: substitute elementary teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District.
2012: Curated: "Abstract: expressing ideas and emotions through color and line" at the American Jewish University, Los Angeles.
Guest speaker for Collage Artists of America (twice) and So Cal Jewish Artists Initiative.
