Description
This striking artwork is a vibrant explosion of color and expression. Dominated by a vivid palette, the piece orchestrates a captivating interplay between warm and cool hues. The left side blazes with varying shades of red and pink, cascading with intensity and blending seamlessly into each other. These warm tones evoke a sense of passion and dynamism, their energy seeming almost palpable. Contrasting this fervent eruption, the right side introduces a surge of cool greens and blues, merging in intricate patterns that evoke a sense of movement and fluidity. This side of the canvas feels more grounded and serene, providing a compelling counterbalance to the heated excitement on the opposite end. The application of paint is both bold and tactile, with thick, palpable brushstrokes that add a textured, almost three-dimensional quality to the surface. This physicality enhances the sense of movement within the piece, as if the colors are actively in motion, vibrating with energy. The central region, where these two divergent color schemes collide, is a site of dynamic interaction. The colors intermingle and clash, creating new, unexpected visual harmonies and tensions. This convergence symbolizes a meeting point of different forces, a visual dialogue that speaks to themes of contrast and unity. Overall, this artwork is an assertive proclamation of color and form, expertly balancing chaos and order. The vigorous brushwork and bold color choices command attention, ensuring that viewers are drawn into its vibrant, dynamic world.
Presentation
Doïna Vieru is an Ecuadorian-Moldavian artist born in 1978 who lives & works in France, Paris. She always preferred pas/pas/passionately the image to the word and all this despite crises of Bartlébysme. Between "I would prefer not to", pencils, papers, pvc or metal and other sharp instruments, the game remains his eternal favorite. After studying at the Chisinau Art Academy in Moldavia and Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, France, she left Europe for Ecuador where she developed her own artistic language between mountains and jungle. Her return to 2019 in Paris is marked by an event-hanging at the Nesle gallery where she presented drawings on the three levels of the gallery. Her work, which has been exhibited regularly in Ecuador, Mexico, France, Romania and Moldova, still deals with the inexpressible. It's a kind of hide-and-seek game, to say and shut up.
Her production is serial: she paints on herself, on her pregnancies, to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky's Opus 35 or in the melanomaniac search for black. In the last series of drawings it is a question of hiding and destroying poetry by freely playing on large photographic paper with layers-history - palimpsests - superimposed where unintelligible writing mixes with charcoal, ink, with white acrylics and black stone. It is the rewriting of the disaster, a direct reference to the work of Maurice Blanchot: "When all is said, what remains to be said is the disaster, ruin of speech, failure in writing, rumor that murmurs: this which remains without remainder."
