I took a seat at the café, 2024

This striking work depicts a seated female figure with relaxed grace in a delicately nostalgic mood. The partly abstracted silhouette is rendered with a virtuoso use of fluid brushstrokes and soft touches of colour. The woman is dressed in an elegant grey dress, which contrasts harmoniously with the softer background and the surrounding touches of warm colours. Her posture, slightly inclined with one hand supporting her head, evokes introspective contemplation or silent reverie. The background, with its shades of beige, ochre and pastel pink, and its subtle patterns, creates an intimate and hushed atmosphere. The abstract details of the woman's face and body are counterbalanced by a mastered technical execution that gives the whole a sense of movement and life. The presence of an armchair and a table, made with simple lines and touches of colour, add an everyday and familiar dimension to the scene. Yet the simplification of forms and color choices also bring a poetic and timeless dimension to the whole. This painting is distinguished by its subtle play between abstraction and reality, creating a work that is both visually captivating and deeply introspective. The artist demonstrates a keen sensitivity in execution and a remarkable ability to evoke complex and universal emotion through minimalist forms and colors.
