Description
A companion piece to the Christmas Mystery triptych, Christmas Carol captures the delicate interplay of nostalgia, warmth, and winter's silent stillness. As an abstract visual interpretation of traditional carols, the painting reflects the sacred atmosphere of the season, blending soft, airy hues with vibrant, expressive strokes.
Hints of golden warmth contrast with icy blues and whites, creating an interplay of light and shadow reminiscent of candle-lit chapels, snowfall, and the echoes of a distant choir. The structured yet fluid composition suggests the melodic rise and fall of a song, translating musical rhythm into a harmonious visual symphony.
Whether displayed independently or as part of the Christmas Mystery series, Christmas Carol invites the viewer into a contemplative experience, where music, spirituality, and abstraction merge into a unified artistic expression.
Presentation
Anatoly Kost (Kostyuk) is an outstanding Ukrainian artist, born in Volyn in 1960, and his career has been over 35 years. His works in the style of abstract art are currently in many private European collections and the National Art Museum of Ukraine. With his works, the artist visited international exhibitions. The artist adheres to the concept of the process of transmuting the energy of abstract art into the energy of music or choreography and vice versa, noting their mutual polyphony. An essential factor in the forces of his work are the masterpieces of world musical classics and choreography, which became the basis for determining the personal philosophical direction in abstraction, namely contemp-abstraction (plastic image of the internal state).
