Description
This artwork vividly captures a moment of serene introspection. At its center, a figure sits on a neatly made bed, their back turned to the viewer. The soft morning light cascades through a large window, casting gentle shadows that emphasize the contours of the subject's form. The room exudes a calm ambiance with cool blue and earthy tones, highlighted by the minimalistic decor, including a bedside lamp and radiator. The subject's posture, with arms raised to adjust their hair, conveys a sense of intimate routine. The juxtaposition of light and shadow, along with the interplay of texture in the bedding and wall, adds depth and realism. This painting blends everyday simplicity with exceptional artistry, inviting viewers to ponder the quiet beauty of solitary moments.
Presentation
Does Thomas lead a Bohemian lifestyle because he was born in 1968? It is true that the family atmosphere had an influence while he discovered roads of the Provence or Italy during his childhood with his parents. Unintended, painting became a passion during his youth. This trend carried on, he joined Penninghen art school and studied graphic designing. At one time when art was supposed to be subversive, he tried provocation, abstracts through tortured and violent paintings. But this wasn't a part of his aspirations, his own idea of creation. According to him, painting meant demonstrating, transcribing one's own environment clearly. He carried this out in his own way and through his own interpretation. He made a series of portraits, often women, a lot of music as well, jazz, cinema, on-goings of the street... A major part of Thomas Saliot's art exists due to his travels. Journey makes up memories and therefore requires to be remembered, and therefore form images. Whether it's in India or Brazil, Thomas Saliot embarked on a journey to discover other things or people and a clash of personalities, basically culture creates his paintings. The artist sums this up in his painting through sharing and discovering as a result of traveling. The Pop culture also had an influence on Thomas Saliot, it's a must especially when you're born in 1968. He finds great lightness in this movement which is in keeping with his creation and lifestyle. He paints using bright, solid colors, a smooth painting which portrays emotions in a more expressive manner. Thomas Saliot describes his universe in a publicized way, as the spectator becomes the cameraman or paparazzi. The subjects pose as true icons of the tabloid press and glamor covers the painting like varnish.
