Description
Svash 11
"White Day" by Egor Shvachunov is a striking and symbolic composition that blends realism with stylization to evoke a powerful emotional atmosphere. In the foreground, an elderly woman, bundled in traditional clothing, stands hunched with a cane, gazing intently at a large, abstract monument or figure carved in cold stone. The surrounding environment is bathed in icy blues and whites, evoking a harsh winter landscape — both literal and metaphorical. Through this work, Shvachunov expresses themes of memory, resilience, and the quiet strength of age. The title "White Day" may symbolize clarity, solitude, or even a moment of reckoning. The contrast between the living woman and the silent, unmoving monument highlights a poignant reflection on time, history, and personal connection to the past. It is a deeply human piece, filled with dignity, introspection, and quiet confrontation.
