Description
SERIES "MANIFESTATIONS OF DIVINE."
Built between 1900 and 1910, Richmond Castle in Kalutara was once the elegant residence of Don Mudaliyar Arthur de Silva Wijesinghe Siriwardena.
This colonial-era mansion impresses with its grand architecture, yet its most enigmatic feature is a Buddha statue found amidst the Christian-themed interior.
The origins of this statue remain unknown—there are no records of when or how it arrived at the castle. It stands in contrast to the colonial surroundings, yet seamlessly integrates into the space, reflecting Sri Lanka's diverse cultural heritage.
Its presence imbues the castle with an aura of serenity, making it not only an architectural masterpiece but also a place where different religious and cultural traditions converge.
Presentation
Ukrainian artist working under the pseudonym AreiRa. Born in 1988 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Graduated from the Kharkiv Academic Art Lyceum and studied Interior Design at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. Since 2023, she has been actively engaged in painting, working primarily with acrylic and watercolor.
Her artistic practice combines figurative and mythological imagery, exploring themes of inner transformation, spiritual resilience, and the search for harmony. She draws inspiration from sacred symbolism, architectural heritage, and the cultural codes of ancient civilizations, creating compositions rich in subtle metaphors and emotional depth.
For AreiRa, painting is a form of meditative practice, where the material and the symbolic intertwine to open new inner dimensions. Her works have been exhibited in Ukraine and abroad. The artist's practice evolves through a dialogue with philosophy and the visual language of global cultural heritage.
Her works are aesthetic and spiritual focal points that harmonize space and open an inner silence.
