Description
This artwork features a striking depiction of a fox, curled serenely against a contrasting backdrop of black and white. The fox, rendered in vibrant oranges and reds, exudes warmth and tranquility. Its sleek form and closed eyes suggest peaceful slumber, while its vivid colors draw the eye immediately. The background, split into stark black on one side and white on the other, is interspersed with dynamic strokes and lines, creating an impression of movement and energy around the fox. The harmonious blend of color and contrast highlights the coexistence of tranquility and chaos within the scene. This piece masterfully captures the essence of duality, as the fox serves as the vibrant focal point amidst an abstract, monochromatic setting. The artwork is a captivating exploration of balance and contrast, producing an engaging visual narrative.
Presentation
Saba Dolikashvili is a Georgian artist born in 2003 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2025. His work is rooted in symbolic narrative painting. His art is founded on a black-and-white background aesthetic, which serves not merely as a formal choice, but as a powerful instrument for expressing the polar aspects of human nature — good and evil, light and darkness, joy and sorrow. However, Dolikashvili's works are not limited to monochromaticity. Color in his painting is functional — it serves as a means of conveying emotional and narrative balance and enriches the composition with distinctive layers. Dolikashvili creates a personal, symbolism-laden world where archetypal figures — for example, the angel as alter ego and rain as a symbol of memory and melancholy — develop with multiple meanings. His art is closely connected to the context of contemporary art, yet maintains an individual concept and depth.
