Description
This artwork features a striking depiction of a contemplative figure with vibrant blue skin and elongated black and brown hair. The figure gazes pensively with heavy-lidded eyes, conveying deep emotion. A graceful, orange feline-like creature rests its head against the figure's neck, exuding a sense of companionship and tranquility. The background is split, with one side displaying a dark sky punctuated by a small red moon and linear rain-like strokes, while the other side contrasts with bright, vertical streaks of pale green. This juxtaposition of darkness and light enhances the emotional depth of the piece. The floral pattern on the figure's pink garment adds a delicate touch, enriching the composition with subtle textures. The artwork's bold color palette and the interplay between the fantastical and introspective elements create a captivating narrative, making it a visually and emotionally engaging piece.
Presentation
Saba Dolikashvili is a Georgian artist born in 2003 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2025. His work is rooted in symbolic narrative painting. His art is founded on a black-and-white background aesthetic, which serves not merely as a formal choice, but as a powerful instrument for expressing the polar aspects of human nature — good and evil, light and darkness, joy and sorrow. However, Dolikashvili's works are not limited to monochromaticity. Color in his painting is functional — it serves as a means of conveying emotional and narrative balance and enriches the composition with distinctive layers. Dolikashvili creates a personal, symbolism-laden world where archetypal figures — for example, the angel as alter ego and rain as a symbol of memory and melancholy — develop with multiple meanings. His art is closely connected to the context of contemporary art, yet maintains an individual concept and depth.
