Description
This artwork masterfully juxtaposes contrasting elements through its split composition. Dominated by a central motif of three foxes, the painting is divided into a dark and a light side, each populated by stylized raindrop-like shapes. On the left, the foxes blend into a warm, earthy background, evoking a sense of mystery and introspection. The foxes' fur exhibits rich, autumnal tones, harmonizing with their serene demeanor. The right side presents a stark, ethereal contrast. Here, the foxes appear in lighter hues, intersected by geometric lines resembling eyes, adding an enigmatic allure. The repeated tear-shaped forms on each side symbolize continuity and balance, unifying the composition. This artwork, with its precise delineation and thematic complexity, invites reflection on duality and perception, captivating the viewer with its poignant visual narrative.
Presentation
Saba Dolikashvili is a Georgian artist born in 2003 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. He is graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Arts in 2025. His work is rooted in symbolic narrative painting. His art is founded on a black-and-white background aesthetic, which serves not merely as a formal choice, but as a powerful instrument for expressing the polar aspects of human nature — good and evil, light and darkness, joy and sorrow. However, Dolikashvili's works are not limited to monochromaticity. Color in his painting is functional — it serves as a means of conveying emotional and narrative balance and enriches the composition with distinctive layers. Dolikashvili creates a personal, symbolism-laden world where archetypal figures — for example, the angel as alter ego and rain as a symbol of memory and melancholy — develop with multiple meanings. His art is closely connected to the context of contemporary art, yet maintains an individual concept and depth.
