Description
Louriac once again asserts his singular pictorial language, between stylized figuration and expressive abstraction. The face, at the center of the composition, seems to emerge from a colorful, almost geometric plane. The contours are refined, the volumes suggested by broad flat areas of colour and marked shadows, in a vivid palette combining purple, lemon yellow, emerald green and deep black.
Louriac works by zones, more than by traits. The gaze is closed, the features are soft, almost melancholic, which gives the whole a silent interiority. The treatment of the background, also structured by clear shapes and repeated patterns, reinforces this impression of tension between ornament and interiority.
With this work, Sabine Louriac does not deliver a realistic portrait, but an emotional presence, reduced to the essential. Barbara is an enigmatic figure, whose strength lies in silence and color.

Sabine Louriac is a French artist born on November 12, 1954 in Castres in the Tarn.
At the age of 10, she started practicing drawing and later on became passionate about painting. She got a training in painting at first autodidactically before working in the workshop of Brienne with Jean Louis Engels until 1994. She then enrolled in open courses at the School of Fine Arts of Toulouse with Rémi Peyranne.
A versitile artist he draws his inspiration from raw art to cubism; from Matisse to Modigliani, from Picasso to Chagall, Sabine Louriac's paintings depict mostly female personages, strange and almost anthropomorphism with a colorful and bright color pallette.
