Description
This artwork presents a captivating blend of abstract and representational elements. Dominated by a soothing blue background, it features fragmented, earthy brown and orange shapes that evoke the organic forms of branches or roots. The composition is divided, with a prominent vertical line separating the left side from the right. On the right, a series of delicate, small birds are perched or in flight, adding vitality and contrast to the scene. The use of negative space enhances the vision of freedom and openness, while the warm hues of the birds and branches create a dynamic interaction with the cool background. The artist skillfully balances abstraction with recognizable forms, inviting viewers to explore the interplay between nature and imagination. The piece exudes a tranquil yet intriguing energy, engaging viewers to ponder the harmony and tension within the natural world.
Presentation
Christopher Rainham has always been inspired by the natural world and more specifically an experience of the natural world.
He is inspired by the way flora and fauna are woven into language, the explanations of things, stories and beliefs.
Animals and flowers and birds have their own symbolism. They are the characters in myths, some of the players in religious writings, metaphors for things that we can't explain. The birds in his paintings are the motif of his design, the objects of his composition and an element of his pattern.
Christopher is interested in the way that society interacts with the wild and not so wild things around it, the effect that we have on the environment and the living things that rely on it to survive.
