Description
This captivating artwork features the back of a figure with a striking focus on a large, meticulously painted ribbon tied around their neck. The play of light and shadow on the ribbon's folds adds a dynamic realism that captures the viewer's attention. The figure's hair is styled in a neat bun, emphasizing the elegant simplicity of the composition. The background is adorned with abstract calligraphic elements, providing an intriguing contrast to the soft realism of the figure. The overall color palette employs warm, earthy tones with highlights that create depth and texture, enhancing the sensuality of the exposed skin. This juxtaposition of human form and abstract design invites contemplation, evoking themes of identity and expression. The artist's skillful technique in blending realism with abstract elements makes this piece uniquely compelling and visually resonant.

Artist Statement
In the way that a poet would seek to understand language with the goal of approaching the sublime, I have tried to understand painting with similar purpose. The ability to move beyond the literal towards a truth. The tools of a painter are akin to that of a poet, words and their placement, language and its rhythm. I am painting poems, images that dance between realism and abstraction, text and flesh, with the hope that the viewer experiences rather than views.
