Description
This canvas by Stefanie Raus presents a powerful black-and-white abstract composition, dominated by broad, fluid, and highly contrasted painterly gestures. Deep black masses, applied in dense and textured areas, unfold across a light background, creating a dynamic interplay between fullness and emptiness, opacity and transparency.
The shapes appear both organic and calligraphic, suggesting fragments of moving bodies, animal silhouettes, or primitive signs, without ever settling into a precise representation. Splashes and finer marks interrupt the continuity of the dark surfaces, adding vibration and spontaneity that recall the artist's immediate, physical gesture.
The overall impression is one of strong, almost visceral expressiveness, where the energy of the brushstroke and the materiality of the paint become the true subject of the work. Through its restrained palette and striking contrasts, the painting invites an intuitive and emotional reading, allowing viewers to project their own images and sensations onto it.
Presentation
Stefanie Raus is a self-taught artist from the Black Forest. She was born in 1976 and is known for her delicate paintings, mainly with a touch of gold leaf and a solid structure. Collectors of your works live in Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic, France and Germany. She has already sold numerous works in the United States through her listing at Saatchi Art. Her paintings have been exhibited at home and abroad. In 2024, she was awarded first place in the Kunst Online art prize.
