Paisible traversée, 2023

Peaceful Crossing evokes a suspended moment, as the boat moves forward with apparent ease, carried by a calm sea and a steady wind. Formerly a rescue boat, the sailboat retains in its silhouette a memory of vigilance and human presence, now transformed into silent and serene navigation. Paper collages give the sails a supple and vibrant texture, traversed by transparencies and light folds. This texture suggests a constant, non-violent breath, a gentle propulsion that guides the gaze toward the horizon. The sand, integrated into the paint, evokes the discreet swell and the continuous friction of the water against the hull. The white gesso ground opens the canvas like a space for breathing. The painter's gesture is inscribed with restraint: visible traces, elongated lines, areas left unfinished. The whole does not describe a journey, but a lasting sensation: that of a slow, controlled, almost meditative movement. Peaceful Crossing acts as a sensory reminder. The work invites us to rediscover a familiar state: the calm of movement, the confidence in the course, the silent presence of the wind and the sea. A painting conceived as a space for inner projection, capable of instilling in the place an impression of extended time and active serenity.
