Description

In this work, Alain chooses an audacious and close-up framing of the Mariska, the famous 15m JI class yacht, captured in the heat of competition during the 2015 Voiles de Saint-Tropez. Viewed almost from the water's surface, the bow cuts through the waves with power, throwing up a spray of foam that structures the entire composition. This intimate perspective accentuates the tension and the sensation of speed. The lines of the bowsprit and rigging slash across the space with great graphic energy, while the pale hull catches the light, contrasting with the deep, shifting blues of the sea.

The mixed media technique reinforces this intensity. Paper collage gives the sails and hull a subtle yet vibrant relief, visible through the transparencies of the oil paint. Sand, integrated into the marine areas, suggests the density of the water and the force of the impact against the stem. The ensemble combines classic elegance with a contemporary style. Alain does not merely represent a prestigious sailboat: he restores the physical sensation of the race, the tense dialogue between the hull and the sea, and the timeless nobility of traditional yachting.

Presentation

Painting is a material and spiritual journey that I take around my first passions, mountains, water, sailing, sea and music. Since my beginnings in 1974, I have trained with other painters. First very inspired by the vibration of colors in the Impressionists and the Fauvists, I turned in the 80s to watercolor, whose transparencies I appreciate.

Finally around the 2000s, I discovered contemporary painting and mixed techniques opening up the field of possibilities. Indeed, by preparing my paintings with collages of paper and sand, I create textures where the paint, very diluted in the manner of watercolors, reacts by drainage or by diffusion to leave its own mark. By the gesture, I print the energies. By the softness of the transparencies and the relationship to emptiness, I register my emotions. Each painting thus invites to a poetic journey.
