Eyes for you, 2026

Verónica Arellano

A haunting gaze anchors this mixed media composition. The artist captures a fragmented feminine presence through a lens of raw emotion. Bold charcoal lines define the eyes. They pierce through a veil of translucent layers. The face emerges and disappears. It exists in a state of constant flux.
The palette remains predominantly monochromatic. Deep greys and stark whites create a moody atmosphere. Sudden bursts of turquoise and soft pink disrupt the sobriety. These colors act as emotional signals. They suggest a hidden vitality beneath the surface.
Textural contrasts define the surface of the artwork. Smooth glazes meet rough, tactile applications of paint. Golden sweeping arcs cut across the canvas. They act as structural dividers. They separate the conscious from the subconscious. The composition blends figurative precision with abstract spontaneity. Drips of paint run vertically like tears or rain. This technique adds a sense of temporal decay. The result is a psychological portrait. It explores the fragility of identity. Every brushstroke emphasizes the tension between visibility and concealment. The piece concludes with a sophisticated play of light and shadow across the lower features.
