Many of MOCS's works emerge from the urgency of the gesture as a field where identity manifests itself without being reproduced in the direct figure. The articulated work is capable of densities of red and magenta that evoke a living matter – a raw emotion and a bodily memory – on the elements that permeate the black signs with a strong structural presence.
Operation pictórica — obra de MOCS
This work by MOCS is structured around a friction between chromatic expansion and graphic content. The background, constructed amidst veladouras, salpicaduras, and goteos, remains open and vibrant, recording the time of the process. In contrast, the black work functions as an example of visual affirmation, establishing a rhythm that does not neutralize the chaos but rather engages with it. The technique blends the power of the painting's physical dimension with its procedural nature.
Identity in tension — Alika obra de MOCS
In MOCS's work, the central sign asserts itself as an ambiguous presence, poised between symbol and enterprise, reinforcing the idea of identity within the construction. The painter MOCS, born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, and trained at the Botticelli Institute for Art and Restoration, develops a practice influenced by comics, cinema, and rock music. This work condenses his interest in intense emotional states and in painting understood as a field of emergence, where instinct and ongoing construction through active friction arise.
Born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, and a graduate of the Botticelli Institute for Art and Restoration with a degree in Fine Arts, his interest in art began through a fascination with comics, films, and rock music. The catharsis of expressing disruptive emotions led him to find in art an ideal channel of expression. His work is the result of a journey through intangible emotions, guided by the need to communicate feelings and anxieties rooted in universal themes. He understands the act of creation as a raw and spontaneous experience, strongly influenced by movements such as Art Brut, Abstract Expressionism, Neo-Expressionism, and by artists including Jean Dubuffet, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Rufino Tamayo. Elements such as color, gesture, line, point, figure, and texture function as tools to construct a deeply personal aesthetic experience, inviting the viewer to accompany him on this journey and to connect with their own emotions and inner concerns.
