Stopover in Baros invites you to a timeless pause on the island of Baros in the Maldives, an iconic place of calm and light. The artwork evokes a silent interlude, a moment suspended between sea, sand, and the breath of the wind. Created in 2023, this 50 x 50 cm painting combines oil paint, paper collage, and sand on linen canvas. At the center of the composition, a small traditional boat rests on a sandbar at the edge of clear, tranquil water. The slightly billowing sail suggests a gentle breeze, promising a possible but unhurried departure. The treatment of materials plays a crucial role in the sensation of lightness. The sand collage structures the beach and traces broad, curved movements in space that evoke the wind, almost invisible yet ever-present. These airy lines interact with the sail and reinforce the impression of calm in motion. The oil paint, applied with transparency and restraint, allows the canvas to breathe and establishes a palette of light tones: sandy beige, pale blue, and luminous whites.
