Description
"Achim" is a work from the "Green at the End" series, characterized by a particularly pronounced, relief-like surface and an earthy, almost physical presence. The painting appears less as if it were applied than as if it had emerged organically – shaped through layering, compression, and the interplay of material and time.
The green hues unfold in a complex structure of overlaps, breaks, and subtle transitions. This creates a surface reminiscent of natural processes: broken soil, compressed vegetation, or traces inscribed by pressure and movement.
Within the surface, areas of greater density of color can be identified. These zones appear as if an internal pressure is building up and then dissipating. The movement remains subtle and ambiguous, instead manifesting as a state of equilibrium between compression and release.
The surface is rich in organic traces, imprints, and structural inclusions, giving the work a distinct materiality. At the same time, calmer areas emerge, balancing the dense structure and lending the image a cohesive effect.
The depth of color develops from finely nuanced shades of green, ranging from brighter, almost luminous nuances to deeper, more muted areas. This differentiated color palette lends the painting a calm, yet complex and sophisticated aura.
Depending on the angle of the light, the perception of the surface changes significantly. Grazing light highlights the structure and makes the three-dimensional quality visible, while even light emphasizes the compact, almost monolithic effect.
"Achim" exemplifies a style of painting that develops from material, process, and a quiet, inner dynamic. The work unfolds its effect upon closer inspection – calm, dense, and imbued with a quiet intensity.
Presentation
Born in Bad Segeberg, my life's journey has taken me to vibrant locales such as Brazil, Spain, and the USA. I pursued my passion for art at the prestigious Falmouth School of Art and Design in England and complemented this with a diploma in Geography from Marburg University.
Since 1997, I have had the privilege of showcasing my work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in cultural hubs like Antwerp, Berlin, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and Mainz. My artistic journey also involves organizing workshops focused on experimental and expressive painting, sharing my techniques and vision with fellow art enthusiasts.
From 2007 to 2014, I operated a production gallery in Mainz, fostering a creative community. Since 2014, I have been based at my studio in Langendellschlag 62, Wiesbaden, where my creative ideas come to life. In 2021, I expanded my artistic reach by opening "ARTLET," a dedicated art outlet in the heart of the city, making my work more accessible to a broader audience.
My diverse experiences and passion for art continue to drive my creativity, allowing me to inspire and be inspired in return.
