Sunlit and almost home, 2025

Barbara Schaumann

This vibrant artwork captures a serene interior scene that seamlessly blends with the outdoors. The composition features a cozy setting with a plush, multicolored sofa and two elaborately patterned armchairs that flank a central coffee table adorned with lush greenery. A richly woven rug anchors the space, complementing the warm, inviting palette. The background reveals an open doorway, through which a tranquil landscape unfolds. The view, framed by decorative arched windows, highlights a vast expanse of sky and distant water, evoking a sense of depth and infinity. Intricate lattice patterns and verdant plants further enhance the fusion of indoor comfort and outdoor beauty. The artist employs dynamic contrasts and bold hues to evoke a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making this work a striking representation of harmonious living in vibrant, expressive colors.

Barbara Schaumann's latest collection brings together traditional oil painting with delicate stitching to create vibrant, textured pieces. Inspired by the relaxed feeling of tropical holidays, these works invite you to slow down — to escape into moments of warmth, ease, and quiet longing.

With bold colours, soft light, and breezy compositions, the paintings capture the laid-back rhythm of holiday life. Added thread details, carefully stitched into the canvas, highlight small elements and bring a subtle, tactile layer to the work — adding intimacy and depth without overpowering the calm, open feel of each piece.
