Emerald Lake, 2026

Olena Kishkurno

This work is inspired by the memory of an emerald lake and the emotions associated with it. Rather than depicting a specific place, the painting unfolds as an inner landscape, where recollection, atmosphere, and feeling become more important than physical reality.

Deep greens, emerald hues, and translucent layers of blue spread across the surface, creating the sensation of cool water, shifting reflections, and hidden depth. Vertical gestures and fluid passages suggest the presence of trees mirrored in the water, while soft transitions of color blur the boundary between landscape and memory. The rich green palette conveys freshness, calm, and the restorative presence of nature, while subtle variations in tone create a luminous and atmospheric space.

The painterly language draws on a gestural, intuitive approach characteristic of contemporary abstract landscape painting and contemporary impressionism. Here, movement, rhythm, and the sensory experience of color take precedence over defined forms. The composition remains open and breathing, inviting the viewer to slow down, enter the landscape, and discover their own associations within it.

Emerald Lake is a contemplative and atmospheric work about memory, perception, and the emotional resonance of place. With its deep green tones, cool water reflections, and abstract landscape structure, the painting creates a sense of immersion and tranquility. It integrates naturally into modern and contemporary interiors, bringing an atmosphere of calm, depth, and connection to nature.
