Description
At first glance, Dobermann presents a powerful and iconic image. The dog's dark silhouette dominates the canvas, its upright ears and confident posture creating an immediate sense of presence. Yet the longer one looks, the more the painting reveals itself as a portrait not of strength alone, but of personality.
The dog's expression is concentrated within the muzzle and the subtle angle of the head. Curiosity is clearly present, but so is a trace of scepticism, as if the animal is carefully assessing the person standing before it. This creates a surprisingly engaging relationship between artwork and viewer, transforming observation into a silent exchange.
One of the painting's most sophisticated gestures emerges only after this connection has already formed. The eyes are hidden. Despite this omission, the emotional character of the dog remains unmistakable. Through remarkable economy of means, Inga Makarova demonstrates how posture, form, and attitude alone can communicate intelligence, awareness, and individuality.
Presentation
“To create something meaningful, something real, you should truly love what you do, as well as the way you do it, and always be passionate about it. For me art will never turn into a boring routine, as I truly enjoy transferring my thoughts and ideas into artworks." Inga Makarova
Inga Makarova is an award-winning Ukrainian painter, sculptor and draftsman. With a background in fashion and graphic design, she translates both worlds into her mixed media compositions. Inga is constantly experimenting with new themes, concepts, images, new combination of colours and forms. Lately, in addition to various sources of light (like neon or LED that are used directly in her artworks), she also started experimenting with various objects that are often quite far from art, for example sport jackets, tableware, cutlery, and even cigarette butts. Inga Makarova's desire to innovate, rather than imitate, allows her to turn even the most ordinary themes into something new, unique, and fresh, once it got reflected in her artworks.
