Description
This composition explores the tension between rhythm and silence.
Powerful vertical stripes dominate the field of vision. Deep purplish tones meet deep black. The repetition creates a hypnotic rhythm. Each line functions as a structural anchor. The colors merge into a dark, atmospheric mood.
The contrast determines the energy of the work. Precision determines every edge. The gaze is guided in a continuous movement upwards. This artwork conveys a feeling of architectural rigor. It creates a balance between minimalist geometry and emotional intensity.
The dark color palette suggests a nocturnal cityscape. Light is absent. Only the vibration of color remains. The surface retains a matte, velvety texture.
This visual discipline transforms a simple pattern into a powerful statement of order. The arrangement is based on the precise spacing of the dark intervals.
The artwork is ready to hang.
Presentation
Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
