Description
A study in strict geometry.
The work impresses with a radical reduction to the essential. Six surfaces divide the space into a precise order.
Deep dark tones form the solid foundation. They frame the composition and lend it an almost architectural weight. A rich dark green sets a natural, calm accent. It swings between depth and luminosity.
The visual center shifts through a single field of warm ochre. This golden tone breaks the strictness. It brings light and energy into the arrangement. The colors stand in a tense dialogue.
No unnecessary details distract from the effect. The smooth surface emphasizes the purity of the color fields. A balance between calm and dynamism is created. A play of contrasts that invites the viewer to contemplation.
The composition appears timeless and disciplined. A precisely guided brushstroke defines the hard edges of the color areas.
The painting is constructed from numerous thin layers of paint, which consist of high-quality pigments in an acrylic dispersion,
High-quality, Belgian linen, primed by the artist himself, is used as the canvas, whose structure remains clearly visible under the thin layers.
It is delivered on a stable wooden stretcher frame. The sides are painted so that no additional frame is required.
The painting is ready to hang.
Presentation
Klaus Hoffmann, born 1957
In his works, Klaus Hoffmann explores the interactions of colors and forms, the special color contrasts and the effect of pure monochrome color surfaces.
In doing so, he avoids figurative associations and orients himself towards the art movement of Concrete Art.
He mostly uses geometric forms, which can also show deviations and breaks.
His aim is to create works that only represent themselves and do not refer to things that are outside the pictorial space, in the visible world.
They should also enable a sensual experience of the colors and forms and their interactions.
He works with pure, high-quality pigments, which are rubbed into aqueous acrylic dispersion and applied in numerous thin layers to give the color surfaces depth and enhance their luminosity.
Self-primed raw linen, whose natural structure remains recognizable, serves as the picture support.
This incorporates the picture support into the work and creates an autonomous overall work.
Hoffmann was educated at the Wiesbadener Freie Kunstschule and Freie Kunstakademie Frankfurt, with a focus on painting, composition, and color theory.
