Description
Urban art meets the nostalgia of the analog medium here. The artist uses audio cassettes as a canvas to détourn music icons. The stencil is precisely imposed on this white plastic.
The gaze and the lips are drawn with a marked contrast. Red and blue slashing traverse the composition. These colors recall the visual identity of a rock legend.
The spray technique brings a raw aesthetic. The rendering is sharp, graphic, and direct. The medium is protected by a sober black frame.
This piece is part of the contemporary Pop Art movement. It transforms an everyday object into a work of art. The play on textures contrasts the shine of the plastic with the dullness of the acrylic paint.
The assembly emphasizes the inseparable link between the image and the sound. The framing freezes this musical moment. The black line emphasizes the contours of the face with geometric rigor.
Presentation
Mister Melody is a visual artist based in La Rochelle on the west coast of France.
Born in 1975 in the north of France, he studied art in Belgium and became a tattoo artist in 2000.
Alongside his work, he took out the spray cans and tried his hand at stenciling, but to stand out from the crowd, he had to find an original medium. It was while rummaging through his attic that he found some old audio cassettes. The original medium was all he needed!!!
The project began in 2021, currently has around thirty works and still has plenty of ideas, including spray cans encrusted with audio cassettes and customized with acrylic paint.
The "Pictorial Melody" is launched!!!
